Emmitt Smith supports Barack Obama

The former Dallas Cowboy running back and current ESPN announcer pumped up the crowd at the Reunion Arena in Dallas on Wednesday when he introduced Barack Obama.

After Emmitt's rousing introduction, Obama responded in delight:
"I knew he could play football. I knew he could dance. But I didn't know that he could fire up a crowd the way Emmitt Smith fires up a crowd...I'm just glad he's not running for president."

The endorsement marks the most public declaration by a sports broadcaster during this election season. ESPN currently does not have a network policy that prohibits broadcasters from making their political preferences public information.

Do you think it's the network/broadcaster's responsibility to remain publicly, politically neutral in order to maintain journalistic integrity? Do these rules apply in the world of sports and entertainment? It's a fine line...

Cruz Beckham is a B-Boy

Since I posted about athlete kin already today, I figured I would just keep with that theme once again. A few weeks ago Cruz Beckham (son of David and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham), joined his mother onstage at a Spice Girls concert. Barely 3 years old, he had no problem hamming it up, b-boy style!

He was such a hit with the audience, that he performed again last night at the Spice Girl's Farewell concert. Check him out. He is too cute!

Brooke Hogan takes flight with new tatas

Brooke Hogan was right - not only would her new boobies help her career, but they are taking her one step closer to achieving her life long dream of flying.

Well, at least they are helping her fly. As for her career, she might have to throw some D's on that.

All jokes aside, I love Brooke Hogan.

Duke mascot attempts whimpy stunt - injures knee

Man, oh man. I don't want to laugh at someone's injury, but watching the video of the Duke mascot jumping off a surfboard and going down reminds me of the clumsy kid you used to play basketball with.

You know that kid that could never catch the chest pass - and instead they jammed their finger, or busted their nose.

Yea, it's kind of like that.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at the Oscars

I'm sure your initial reaction was the same as mine - what the heck is he doing at The Oscars? Did Gridiron Gang score him a lifetime invite?

Regardless of why he was there, he def pulled off the "distinguished actor" look. I guess you gotta dress the part!

Esquire Magazine even named him as Best Dressed Honorable Mention for the evening. Go 'head Dwayne - brush your shoulder off...

Floyd Mayweather celebrates 31st birthday ... with Keyshia Coles!

Well, it IS February so maybe cupid is working overtime.

Floyd Mayweather celebrated his 31st birthday at Jet Nightclub at the Mirage this past Monday night in Vegas.

One question: why?

Apparently, partying with your mama at the club is the new hotness! I'm not mad ...

Dude is really making his publicity rounds these days. Should be interesting to see where else and who else he pops up at or with in the next few months before Wrestlemania (3/30) and the De La Hoya fight this fall.

John Elway is sexy...

And by "sexy" I mean not sexy at all. Unless of course you find a raw turkey ready for basting sexy.

In that case, yes - John Elway is sexy.

Braylon Edwards celebrates his 25th birthday

Yall missed me didn't you!? Sorry about the lack of posts the past few days - but when you have a full-time J-O-B, sometimes you've got BIDNESS to handle ;)

Ok, so since I've been gone Braylon Edwards dun went and celebrated his 25th birthday party last weekend at Tryst without me.

Was anyone checking ID? Are these ladies really of age?! Damn, I feel old...

Nevermind . Not so much anymore - thanks Melyssa Ford...

I don't know how I feel about this birthday get up. It's somewhere between Miami Vice, and the Skipper from Gilligans Island. But with a swagger...

Some stripper chicks (jk, or am I?) ...

Houston Texan, Mario Williams was in attendance...

Best Damn Sports Show host and former NBA player, John Salley came out...

Nicole Murphy might be sprung...

After dating New York Giant Michael Strahan for a little over 10 months, Nicole Murphy (Eddie Murphy's ex-wife) spoke out to People.com about her new and old loves:

Nicole on Michael:
"When I got divorced, I said never again. But some time has passed since Eddie and I split, and I know now what I want in a man: communication and shared interests. Michael and talk about everything, and we both love to travel, explore and laugh."
Nicole on Eddie:
"Eddie is a wonderful person and a good father. But we obviously had problems in the marriage. I tell my friends that opposites may attract but that kind of early excitement doesn't last. Find someone who shares your passions and interests."

Another piece of advice that Nicole should have added - marry a man that is straight. Completely straight. Now THAT is some solid advice.

Mayweather finds way out at No Way Out

This is a little old, but I still want to post it because it's entertaining. At WWE's No Way Out Pay-Per-View special this past Sunday night, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather made an appearance (or an acting debut-whatever you want to call it).

After some trash talking, taunting and staring, Mayweather pulls a hit and run on the Big Show - breaking his nose! Check it out below:

Grown man's soap opera.

Don't worry, there is more to come. Mayweather has accepted a challenge to go one-on-one in the future with Big Show. Maybe De la Hoya will be involved next time around...

Jeter has no game

Womp, womp. The season hasn't even started yet and Derek Jeter is already striking out...with actress Sienna Miller.
Page Six is reporting that the Yankee's shortstop was tirelessly trying to flirt with the actress last Friday night at Villa. Witnesses say, she had no idea who he was and couldn't have cared less.

I'm sure that may have bruised his ego, but not as much as being named The Worst Shortstop Ever just days later. Derek needs to start worrying about his game ON the field. It's been statistically proven by geeks, that your on-field performance is directly proportional to you the amount of "play" off-field.

In other words, you field balls - you field booty.

Nike "Talk Trash" is some garbage ... literally

All-Star guard, Steve Nash's passion for environmental awareness (who knew?!) has inspired Nike to create the Nike Trash Talk, the first performance basketball shoe made from manufacturing waste.

Nash said :

“Any opportunity to promote the environment and preserve our planet is a step in the right direction. I’m very excited to be one of the first athletes to wear the Nike Trash Talk. I think people will love the shoe, and hopefully by wearing it I can inspire others to try it out as well.”

The suggested retail price of the Talk Trash is $100. Although a novel idea, I just don't see this being the new hottness...

Carey Hart and Pink file for divorce

In sad news, motocross legend Carey Hart and singer Pink have called it quits after 2 years of marriage. Their publicist told People Magazine:

"This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another," While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger."

I always wonder just how true those "amicable" divorce statements are...

UPDATE - Pink has released a statement:
Hi everybody. I wanted to reach out personally to all my fans/friends out there in the world. First and foremost, thank-you for all of your support and love, it means a lot to me right now. The most important thing for you all to know, is that Carey and I love each other so so much. This break up is not about cheating, anger, or fighting. I know it sounds like cliche bulls***, but we are best friends, and we will continue to be. All I know at this point, is that I want to make the best album I can, and Carey wants to do the best possible job he can with everything he has going on. He is a good man, so please support him as well. One never knows the future, but mine and Careys' just might involve beach babies and sunshine one day. Just not right now. Thanks for the concern and caring. X Miss P

Dancing with the Stars reveals sixth season lineup

You can always count on a few of your favorite athletes for show up on the dance floor.

This season, 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist Kristy Yamaguchi, Miami Dolphins' defensive end Jason Taylor and former tennis champ Monica Seles will be joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars.

I think Jason Taylor will be stiff, Monica will be decent but lack spunk and Kristy Yamaguchi better handle it. To see a list of the full line up, check out the official website.

2008 Laureus World Sports Awards

The Laureus World Sports Awards were last, in St. Petersburg, Russia. (Big ups to Mother Russia!)
Roger Federer won Laureus Sportsman of the year, while Justine Henin received the honor of Sportswoman of the year. Dang, funds must be tight because I only see one trophy...

Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton was the Breakthrough of the Year award winner. And yes, I felt as though posting three pictures of him was necessary....

The South African rugby team won Team of the Year after winning the World Cup...

Russian President Vladamir Putin addressed dignitaries during the ceremony...

Kim Catrell provided a little Hollywood glamor in St. Petersburg...

and even my boy Boris "Boom-Boom" Becker was in the house.

Congratulations to all winners AND nominees!
